I consider myself to be very fortunate to have watched this Pilot movie when it originally
aired. An excellent production by any standard but when viewed in 1984 and compared
to all other t.v shows of the time and previous, it was shockingly impressive. I
The Pilot starts off in New York City. We see a guy who we come to know very well,
Tubbs sitting in his car on a dark New York City street. This was filmed on West
16th Street in Chelsea. Tubbs is parked on the north side of West 16th Street facing
East. He is parked in front of Chelsea Hall. He is watching the Macon Grocery at
244 West 16th Street.
Then we cut to three thugs. They are walking westbound on the north side of West
16th Street. We see them walk by what is now Cafe Razor at 245 W. 16th St.
Then we see Tubbs still focused on 244 West 16th Street. The intersection of 8th
Avenue is seen in the background.
Tubbs was parked where the tan CRV is parked in the picture below.
Then we see Calderone, the one Tubbs has been waiting for, walk out of # 244.
We see Calderone leave headed east on West 16th Street.

Then we see Tubbs following Calderone as he turns from northbound on Hudson Street
to westbound on Jay Street. The Western Union building is seen in the background.
Caldrone’s car stops at the far end of the block in front of 18 Jay Street.
Tubbs pulls over and stops on Jay Street just west of Staple Street.
We watch Calderone and his entourage enter # 18 Jay Street.
Then we go inside. We are inside a nightclub. This is the only part of the teaser
that was filmed in Florida. This was filmed at 1235 Washington Avenue, Club Z which
is now Mansion nightclub.
Then we see Tubbs supposedly chasing Calderone out the back of the club. In reality,
we are back in New York and Tubbs is running out onto Staple Street north of Jay
Tubbs runs out here
First he heads north and looks both ways on Harrison Street.
Then he runs south down Staple Street to Jay Street where Calderone has disappeared.
Then the teaser ends and we see the opening montage.
